Studio Prior is an independent design studio founded and led by Holly May, based in Cardigan, West Wales. What began as an individual practice shaped by an interest in traditional references and what came ‘prior’ to the present day, has evolved into a studio focused on creating contemporary identities with depth, clarity and character.

Working across brand identity, packaging, print and digital, Studio Prior develops visual systems where typography, imagery and layout are approached with equal care, building brands that feel cohesive from packaging and websites to printed collateral and social media.

Drawn to the functional and the expressive, the studio takes inspiration from traditional design languages, archival details, hospitality, craft and print. The aim is to create identities that feel distinctive and enduring.

Projects are taken on selectively and developed closely with each client, from strategy and concept through to rollout. Holly works particularly well with founder-led businesses, hospitality projects and product-based brands. Where needed, the studio collaborates with a trusted network of developers, photographers, illustrators and copywriters.
